| Comments | This list is based on a composite of the circulating AUD and SBD tapes. The SBD contains Me & My Uncle through Uncle John, with cuts at the beginning of FOTD and the end of Uncle John. The AUD contains the entire contents listed, with several cuts and several tunes out of sequence on most circulating copies. This show is all one long set with an acoustic passage in the middle running from Friend Of The Devil through Katie Mae. After Man's World Bobby says "We're gonna take you from all this sweat and steam and uproar and tumult and we're gonna break out our acoustic guitars and regale you with some wooden music." There is a tape comprised of the 4/12/70 AUD of Good Morning Little Schoolgirl; Mama Tried; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider; Viola Lee Blues that sometimes circulates mislabeled "Fillmore West 4/9/70" and sometimes "Fillmore East 7/10/70." Miles Davis contributed an hour-long set each evening, and according to DeadBase Stone The Crows and Clouds were also on the bill. The AUD tape was mastered by Harry Ely. Some copies in circulation have the last couple minutes of Deep Elem Blues cut, others don't. "Cowboy Song" is an Instrumental improvisation involving audience participation on a hoe-down type riff with an unknown vocalist conducting in a sort of scat & yodel fashion (it isn't Marmaduke or Ramblin Jack or David Bromberg -- maybe it's Nelson on acid?); this one-time-only affair never had a name -- the title comes from tape labels. The Other One Drums sound like they were cut out on the spot with the pause button. Quite a bit of Lovelight is missing, probably; Pigpen is only just starting to get wound up when the circulating AUD cuts. SBDs of at least 3 of Miles' sets circulate (the 10th, the 11th, and one more). |
