Comments | The circulating SBDs are copies from Bear's cassette master. The tape cuts in on the beginning of Morning Dew. After Dew Phil says "since there's so few of you, why don't you come down here and cluster at the front." There is a cut of uncertain proportions at 8:34 into the Dark Star. According to Rob Eaton the beginning of this show was mastered onto the end of a cassette containing tape of the Rolling Stones, and this cut is where that cassette ran out. The Eleven analyzes St. Stephen > 1st vocals 1:05 > transition Jam 1:49 > Eleven Jam 4:22 > Eleven vocals 0:40 > Eleven Jam 3:46 > Turn On Your Love Light. After Turn On Your Love Light Phil says "The Iron Butterfly will be on a a few minutes" and then after a pause Jerry says, "OK, we have some more time. We're gonna play a little more." A bit later Phil says "That's right, wrap yourselves around each other." There is another cut between the Cryptical reprise and Feedback, presumably another tape flip. Tom Constanten discusses this tour in his book _Between Rock and a Hard Place_. Eaton's list reads: 02/06/69 Keil Auditorium, St Louis Mo - xcerpt 4.5, 093min, Sbd, A0D0, Cass M->Dat 0, 48k, Ampex C-90 Master Cass/no dolby->4100 x 0 If Eaton's timing is correct 7 minutes are missing from the circulating tape, implying that the circulating copy has been butchered. |
