David Sorochty's research in SF newspaper archives turned up a listing in the San Fransisco Chronicle, Monday Feb 24, 1969, page 37. The "Datebook" column which lists things going on that night says: "Mickey Hart and the Heartbeats (Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesch, and Bill Sommers) and Frumious Bandersnatch at the Matrix, 3138 Fillmore. Sorochty notes that generally the Matrix booked a band for a run of shows and wonders if the Heartbeats might have been there on the 25th as well, but finds no positive evidence to this effect.
