Notes
Sometimes occurs as I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man which could be the correct title. The spelling varies on some recordings.
Written by Dixon in 1954 with Muddy Waters in mind. Part of the song is derived from Muddy Water's Rolling Stone.
The lyrics for the version performed by Pigpen and Peter Albin are as follows;
Gypsy woman told my mother, 'fore I was born
Got a boy-child coming, be a son of a gun
All the pretty women, jump and shout
Then the world gonna know, what it's all aboutChorus
And I'm here
Everybody knows I'm here
Well I'm your hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm hereGot a black cat bone, got a mojo hand
Got a John the Conquer root, gonna mess with you
Now all the pretty women, lead me by my hand
Then the world gonna know, I'm your hoochie coochie man[chorus]
On the seventh day, on the seventh week
On the seventh month, seventh doctor say
I was born for good luck, born of the seventh son
Now all I want to do, is get myself [a gun][chorus]
Got a axe handle pistol, got a three dollar [?]
[?] tombstone bullet, and a ball and chain
And smoking TNT, drinking dynamite
I don't want [?], [?] gotta fight[chorus]
