It seems likely that no performance of Cathy's Clown circulates on tape.
It occurs on Deadbase set lists for 6/11/69 and 4/17/70 performances by Bobby Ace & His Cards From The Bottom. The information for these shows derives from lists kept by deadheads who attended the shows, not from tapes.
It was also reportedly played at the 11/23/70 Hells Angels Benefit at the AndersonTheater, New York, but does not occur on circulating tapes of the show.
Everly Brothers single recorded RCAs Studio B in Nashville was their first single on Warner Brothers label. Recorded on 18th March 1960 and released in May 1960 it was the first single to be No. 1 simultaneously in the US and UK.
Originally written as Catherine's Clown by Don Everly supposedly about a high school friend Catherine Coe.
Sometimes seen credited to Don Everly sometimes to both Everly brothers. Phil Everly improved the lyrics in places but signed away his rights to the song to compensate for undeserved credits to him for other Don Everly songs.
